Privacy policy — Hanzi Daily

Hanzi Daily is a Chrome extension that teaches one Chinese character on every new tab. It is designed to work without an account and without collecting personal data.

What the extension stores

The extension stores the following on your own device, inside your browser profile (chrome.storage.local):

• your study progress (which characters you have seen, when they are due, your ratings);
• your daily activity log, used for the streak and the heatmap;
• your settings (daily goal, review cap, theme, tone colours, speed, self-test);
• your Pro activation code, if you chose to enter one.

This data never leaves your device. There is no sync, no account and no server of ours. You can export it to a file, import it on another machine, or delete it at any time from Settings → Data (“Reset progress” / “Reset everything”). Uninstalling the extension also removes it.

Network requests

The extension makes no external network requests. Audio, stroke data, fonts, illustrations and the activation-code list are bundled in the package; the only fetch calls read files inside the extension itself. Activation codes are checked locally by hashing what you paste and comparing it with the bundled list. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no analytics, telemetry or update ping.

Opening the “Email to buy” link hands control to your email app. Nothing is sent until you choose to send the message.

Purchases and support email

Pro is arranged by email. If you email us to buy Pro or ask for support, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use them only to reply, arrange payment, deliver your activation code and provide support. We do not receive payment-card details through the extension or the website; use the payment method we send in the reply.

We do not sell or share support correspondence for advertising. You can ask us to delete our copy of your support email at any time.

Permissions

• storage — to save your progress, settings and activation code locally.

The extension has no host permissions, no content scripts and does not read or modify web pages.

Children

Hanzi Daily is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

The extension holds no personal data on a server. Local data can be deleted in Settings → Data. For support correspondence, email hanzidaily700@gmail.com and we will delete it on request.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this URL and the date above updated. Material changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
