Terms of service — Hanzi Daily
Last updated: 20 October 2026
These terms are between you and the developer of Hanzi Daily (“we”, “us”) and cover the Hanzi Daily Chrome extension and this website. By installing the extension or buying Pro you agree to them.
1. What you are buying
Hanzi Daily is a Chrome extension that teaches Chinese characters on the browser's new tab page.
- Free. The first 100 characters, with pinyin, audio, stroke order, example words and sentences,
spaced review and the full study app.
- Pro. A one-time payment of US$12.99 unlocks all 700 characters, every illustration and
character-evolution sheet, and future updates.
Pro is a single purchase, not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is no recurring charge.
2. Payment
Pro is arranged by email. Email hanzidaily700@gmail.com and we reply with payment instructions. After payment we send an activation code by email. The extension and this website do not collect card details; never send card numbers by email.
You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchase in your country. We do not add a separate tax line unless the payment method states one.
3. Activation code and licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Hanzi Daily Pro on the browsers you own or control. One activation code is issued per purchase.
You may not:
- resell, redistribute, sublicense or publish the extension or its content;
- share an activation code outside your own devices;
- bypass, disable or tamper with the activation check;
- remove copyright, licence or attribution notices.
For classroom, school or team use, email us — one code is not intended to cover a group.
4. Refunds
If Pro is not for you, email hanzidaily700@gmail.com within 14 days of purchase. No questions asked. We refund to the original payment method and ask you to stop using the activation code.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory right to cancel or withdraw that you have under the consumer law of your country of residence.
5. Updates and changes
Updates are included for the life of the product. We may add, change or remove features, and we may stop distributing the extension; if we do, the refund policy in section 4 still applies.
6. Third-party content
The extension includes third-party data and fonts, each under its own licence — including CC-CEDICT (CC BY-SA 4.0), stroke data from Make Me a Hanzi (Arphic Public License) and the LXGW WenKai typeface (SIL OFL 1.1). The full notices are reproduced in the extension under Settings → About → Licences & credits. Those licences govern those components, and nothing in these terms restricts rights you have under them.
7. Privacy
Hanzi Daily has no account and no analytics. Progress and settings stay in your browser. The extension makes no external network requests, and the activation code is checked locally. Read the privacy policy for the details.
8. Disclaimer
The extension is provided “as is”. We work to keep the content accurate, but we do not warrant that it is error-free or that it will produce any particular learning outcome. Chinese definitions are derived from CC-CEDICT and may differ from your textbook.
Hanzi Daily is not affiliated with Google LLC, the HSK examination, or any language school. Chrome is a trademark of Google LLC.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the extension or these terms is limited to the amount you paid for Pro in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud, death or personal injury.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The current version is always published at this URL with a new date above. Material changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
